Be a dinner lady to get your child into the school you want....

Dozens of places at top state schools could soon be off-limits as ministers grant guaranteed entry to children of all staff – from teachers to dinner ladies.

Amendments to the schools admissions code, announced yesterday, remove the current ban on giving priority to the children of members of staff.

If a school wishes, it can expand the benefit to every member of staff – from head teachers to groundsmen, cooks, caretakers and cleaners.
